The Beginning

How We Met...

Dini and Miwa most likely met somewhere at UC Berkeley's Recreational Sports Facility where they both work, but they don't remember exactly when or how. 

2.4.2012 | FIRST DATE

For their first "date," Dini and Miwa went shopping to Costco to buy food and drinks for the Super Bowl party at Dini's house. Dini spared no expense and treated Miwa to a classy Costco hot dog lunch. 

3.17.2012 | IT'S "OFFICIAL"

Dini and Miwa became officially boyfriend/girlfriend. They also don't remember how this happened...but it most likely went like this...

Dini: "Will you be my girlfriend?"

Miwa: "Sure."

Dini: "Sweet."

The Proposal

1.4.2015 | HE POPPED THE QUESTION

Dini and Miwa went on a 10-day cruise to Mexico with Dini's parents. What Miwa didn't know was that Dini carefully hid the ring in his backpack prior to departure. On the second night of the cruise (it was "formal" night), Dini asked Miwa if she wanted to go for a walk around the ship after dinner. Of course, she said, "sure." Before their walk, Dini slipped the ring into his pocket while Miwa was using the restroom. It was a clear beautiful night with a slight breeze. Dini and Miwa strolled to the back of the ship, where Dini commented on how beautiful the moon was. While Miwa was gazing at the moon on this starry night, Dini stepped back.  Miwa turned around and there Dini was, down on one knee. He popped the question...and she said YES!

Did you cry? Miwa teared up. Dini doesn't cry.

Was it a surprise? No. Miwa knew it was coming...she just didn't know exactly when. Dini is an excellent communicator.

Where did Dini get the ring? Dini's best buddy and their wedding officiant, Gallo, who works for a jewelry company helped Dini design the perfect ring for Miwa. 

Our Wedding

1.9.2016 | THEY SAID "I DO"

Dini and Miwa said "I do" on 1.9.2016. They got married at Cerruti Cellars in Oakland, CA surrounded by the family and friends. The evening was filled with good company, delicious food, lots of wine, and groovy dance moves. 

Our Japanese "Wedding"

During spring break 2015, we went to Japan to celebrate with Miwa's family. We didn't do a ceremony...just a photo shoot followed by dinner! It took about 2-hours for Miwa to get photo ready. Check out our photos...you'll get a good laugh out of it!!
